Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association is a representative body, which takes care the interest of the ginners and coordinates their problems with the Federal and Provincial Government Agencies to resolve them.

In order to safeguard the interests on all Pakistan bases and to project the problems of ginners for consideration of the Federal and Provincial Governments, to educate and advise the cotton ginners, to adopt ways the cotton could be improved to the International standard Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association came into existence in 1958 and recognized and licensed as ‘A’ class Association by the Federal Government of Pakistan.
Haji Amir Umar the Gonvener of the Association step into formulate the bye laws and Memorandum of Association to streamline and prepare the Code of Ethics for the ginners and was therefore elected in 1960 to hold portfolio up to 1961. Then by rotation, we regularly started holding elections and operated in a democratic way. The First Head Office of the Association was established in Hyderabad and Zonal Office at Multan with Circle Offices at Rahim Yar Khan, Sargodha and Hyderabad. In 1977-78 Head Office of the Association was shifted from Hyderabad to Karachi whereas the Zonal Office remained in Multan. By passing the time and improvement of the strategies of the Association the circle Office at Rahim Yar Khan was renamed as Bahawalpur Circle and shifted to Bahawalpur. Similarly the Sargodha Circle,re-name as Sahiwal Circle was shifted from Sargodha to Cheechawatni. Another Circle was formed as Vehari Circle in 1991-92,which is functioning at Vehari from the same year.The Hyderabad Circle was renamed as Sind Circle and was shifted to Karachi.Similarly zonal office Multan was converted as circle office,Multan.

We have not yet closed the chapter and the progress is still under way. The PCGA House at Multan has been constructed and we have shifted there. Heavy finances are spent on this construction with our own resources and with the cooperation and subscription by our worthy members.This buliding is very well facilitated including Meeting Halls ,Executive Block and a huge Secretariate.A Cotton Testing (HVI) Laboratory in the same building with the cooperation of Ministry of Textile has been installed which is providing cotton testing facility to our members. We hope we will be doing much more for the improvement in cotton trade to strengthen the economy of Pakistan.A Project of Cotton Ginning Training Research Institute has also been introduced by us which will also be established with in coming years with the Cooperation of Textile Ministry of Pakistan. The board of the Institute has been formulated ,arrangement of land completed and provision of funds is underway by the Government.The majority of the directors of the board is from PCGA.

The Head of the Association is Chairman whereas the Five Vice Chairmen supervise each Circle and take care of their areas to help out the ginners. Each Circle has a share of six members in the centeral executive committees and 12 members in each Circle Executive Committees. Apart from this, station wise Sub Committees have also been formed which are resolving their local problems. The elections of the Circles and Central Executive Committee take place every year according to the schedule,The Vice Chairmen are elected by direct votes in each circle whereas the election of Chairman takes place by the 30 members of the Central Executive Committee. The day-to-day expenses and the capital expenditures of the Association are borne by self-resources by subscription of the entire ginning factories in Pakistan. The membership of the Association is mendatory without which no ginning factory in Pakistan can operate legally, which is covered by the Rules of Cotton Control Act applicable all over Pakistan.

The main Secretariat of the Association is established at PCGA House Multan where as five Circle offices at Multan,Vehari,Bahawalpur,Chechawatni and Karachi are working under the main Secretate .The secretary of the Association is the Executive Officer responsible to run the general administration and the other matters as per Memorandum of Association.
